MAKE YOUR MARK IN CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE® REMASTERED MULTIPLAYER MAYHEM
The weapons, gear and maps that started it all – remastered for your pleasure, for free.
Just as fun as you remembered, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s Multiplayer launched the franchise into the stratosphere upon its initial release in 2007, and it’s not hard to see why. From the engaging maps to the familiar weapons and perks to the classic modes – it’s the Multiplayer experience you’ve come to expect from Call of Duty®.
Here are some of our favorites:
Crash – A downed helicopter in this small town marks the center of the map with everything around it available for exploration. A three-story building in the center of the map acts as a chaotic center of the action that also provides a lookout to all other areas. If you can make your way to the third floor – either by the stairs within or the ladder outside – a clear view of the surrounding areas is your reward.
The rangey, uber accurate, burst-fire assault rifle makes for an excellent companion on your journey to the upper floors. Throw on a Red Dot or scoped sight and you’ll unleash punishing three-round bursts from on-high with ease. Even with a tempting, elevated perch, Crash’s layout allows for every type of engagement. Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns play well on the ground levels as you hop from building to building among the shadows.
Overgrown – This large, overgrown rural chunk of the Russian countryside presents unique challenges for players. There’s a ton of wide-open space. That means ghillied-up snipers have a field day here. Whether you’re a fan of the bolt-action M40A3 or the heavy-duty .50Cal semi-auto, this is a map where snipers can really put in work. And wherever you see snipers, you can also assume Claymore mines aren’t far behind. Keep an eye out for these planted around corners, behind doors and concealed among tall grass.
A dried-up river snakes through the center of the map, effectively cutting it in half. On one side, we have a street with multiple buildings on either side as well as an abandoned gas station. On the other, there’s a big barn with multiple openings for peeking and stealth sniping, as well as a central house with a concealed upper-floor with multiple lookout points.
Pipeline – A Russian train-yard with an elevated grassy spawn area on one end that looks down into the yard and a series of connected tunnels underneath the tracks. Two multi-level structures packed with dark corners and places to skulk require caution as well as opportunities to pounce. These interiors lend themselves to a strong, silenced SMG combined with the Dead Silence and UAV Jammer perks.
The map also provides long sightlines for the more distance-inclined among you. In addition to the natural, elevated areas on one end of the map, each building contains a second, or elevated, area. If you keep to these areas, a rangey LMG with a strong fire rate, like the RPD, can be a bear for enemies to deal with.
Whether your preferred mode is traditional like Team Deathmatch, Domination or a party mode like Slasher or Prop Hunt – Modern Warfare Remastered gives you a fun arena to play in. Plus, it’s free for the month of March to all PlaystationPlus subscribers. So, download it, drop into a match and let the good times flow.
